New Information

Here's a neat little tidbit of information.

Unlike we assumed in the wiki, Dolis is actually RKS013, not RKS010. This begs the question, "Who are RKS010-012?" We know that Schirach used to be a member of RKS, but that still leaves Pamela, Eifer, and the Refraktia twins, who are not listed as being members of the organization. Are these characters going to be assigned numbers, or are there MORE members of The Order of the Rose Cross that we don't know about? Interesting, to say the least!

  1. If this is true, then what you said a while ago is probably true. They may be more women besides Dolis.

And maybe Axelle is one of them...

  2. Uh,...where the heck did you find that?

btw: More members? Maybe you can find some answers when you do some researches on the Robot Masters from the Megaman Series.

  3. @Granatapfel: He used the RKS decompression tool to rip an graphic from the RKS trial, and he got this.

  4. Would Iris be the RKS10 ? But that leaves at least two contenders.

As they say: the plot thickens.

  5. Ah. The mystery runs deeper than we thought...

  6. @Justin: Speaking of the decompression tool, would somebody hurry up and upload it already? I'm dying to use it. ^^;

  7. Sorry to go off subject, but I found a major bug with RKSF's demo. When I replayed Zorne's Stage on my Replay, it plays out the Opening and acts out in weird ways.

  8. A little more on the situation that I'm having with the demo. My replay was from beginning to end (Prologue > Zorne > Sichte > Groll) and when I selected Zorne's Stage, that's when everything goes to hell.

  9. Viper, they already know about the replay bug, as well as a few other bugs. They'll be releasing a patch soon.

  10. @Anonymous: TDOMMX is working on it. Just be patient, hopefully it will be out before the full version of RKSF is released.

  11. Thanks, Justin. I wasn't expecting you to come to my defense like that given our recent email exchanges.

I've mentioned these points before, but I'll repeat them for the sake of those inquiring about the decompressor:

    1) In its current form, the decompression utility is command-line-driven and quite cumbersome to use. As recently as yesterday, Letty had trouble getting it to work. I checked the syntax he was using and it seemed to be just fine, but the output folder was empty. The batch file I sent him extracted the contents of the archives properly, so I have no clue what the problem was exactly.

    2) I could release a batch file alongside the command-line utility to get around the above problem, but that would require me to give away [erka:es]'s archival password. I can name at least two people who wouldn't be too thrilled about that, so I'm not even going to entertain this notion.

    3) I'm currently in the process of hunting for a new job and organizing the translation notes (which are about as complex as the wiki, which might explain why I haven't made any front-page updates at Darkside in over a month). Because of that (and a few other real-life matters like my brother's recent engagement), putting the GUI and decompressor together isn't exactly a high priority for me at the moment.

If I have enough demand for it, I can integrate the GUI into the decompressor before releasing the notes, but work on that won't take priority over my job search. How does that sound to you all?

  12. Hmmm...Quite an interesting find to say the least. With slot's 1012 unlisted that would put us at an even 8 new characters rather than the oddball 5 we had before. It also begs to question about that...Blitzdonger...Lightning girl that was throufully rumored and speculated about. Quite the interesting find if I do say so myself

  13. @TDOMMX: Sure, if that's what you want to do, take your time. We can wait.

  14. @TDOMMX:
Can we use the decompressor to let's say, hack the music of the game? Oh and how's your bro's engagement going?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Viper: You will need the compressor/encoder to do that, and we won't be providing that.

  16. I already have extracted the BGM... There's the demo stage music, no hidden sound somewhere.

I totally agree with TDOMMX, job's the most important think.
Good luck with your job hunting ;-)

  17. Best of luck with the job-hunting, TDOMMX.

  18. @Killing_Doll: Iris can't be an RKS member, her magic ability was kept secret by her father. To the public, she's just a normal child.

  19. Not to mention that Iris is a cold-hearted, scheming b*tch.

And good luck on the job-hunt, TDOMMX.

  20. Thanks for the support, guys.

I finished my university degree back in June and took a little break from the world to catch up on a few things (and finish localizing RKS). It's about time I got back to getting paid for my work.

As Letty said, you'd need the recompressor to modify the graphics, music, or script. We won't be releasing this utility to the masses unless [erka:es] says otherwise. While it is possible to modify the game without it by hacking the game executable, you'd need to be quite good with assembly language to do so and get any meaningful results. Quite frankly, I'd love to see someone pull that off.

Killing_Doll, I'm assuming you managed to snag a copy of the decompressor when it was on the RKS uploader. If that's indeed the case, I ask on the behalf of [erka:es] that you keep their password to yourself.

Viper, my brother made the announcement last month. His fiancee is a very sweet girl and the two have been going out for around 3-4 years. I've been treating her like the little sister I never had all this time (all of my siblings are guys), so it's nice to officially become her big brother. The date has yet to be decided, though.

Yes, this is the same brother whose birthday I celebrated on the Darkside front page back in July.

  21. I have been pitching some music to Letty via Gmail for the music mod. Most of the music I suggested were from Mega Man 4 Complete Works' OST since Rosenkreuzstilette does allude to a lot of stuff from that game (i.e. Liebea = Toad Man, Sichte's Stage = Toad Man's Stage, Iris Stage 3 = Re-battle the Robot Masters in Mega Man 4).

  22. My money's on UNBEKANNT having a seperate number. That'd be hilarious.

  23. TDOMMX> Actually that's not the case at all, I had it way before even knowing this blog or the RKS uploader...

But don't worry, I won't spread it, you have my word. ;-)

I totally forgot about that tool lately... Before Justin's post and the followers, but it's not for hacking purpose at all.
