Put The Best To The Test
Finally, we're ready to go, so now I can do an official advertisement of this. The "no-CD version" of the English patch, officially called "The Best Version," as it is designed to work specifically with RKS THE BEST, is finally complete. Now that we have that settled, I urge all of you, if you haven't already, to head over to the English DLSite page for RKS and buy yourself a copy of Rosenkreuzstilette [erka:es] THE BEST. I've added a button over on the side in the External Links section for your convenience. Once you've got yourself a copy and sent all of your money to [erka:es] (ALL OF YOUR MONEY), head to the right sidebar again and pick up the English THE BEST patch and start your wonderful RKS crusade. Included in THE BEST is a neat little addition in the form of a high-res image of the DVD case cover, so in essence, you can actually print out an authentic cover for the game and have your very own physical copy! How neat is that? What are you waiting for!? Get to it!
Special thanks to [erka:es] for this great game, TDOMMX for the installers, and for all of you Schwer readers, because especially without you, there'd be no RKS fanbase, and we probably wouldn't be here today.

Is there an official list of the changes between RKS 1.05c and The Best? I know a few posts back you mentioned there were some slightl differences in the new version of the game, so I'd be curious to know what we're looking at.
ReplyDeleteTo be perfectly honest, they're exactly the same, byte for byte.
ReplyDeleteNot 100% identical, but close enough that it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteThe Best version of RKS is Version 1.05c with the Freudia Voice Enhancement applied. All of the data and graphic files are identical. There are a grand total of four differences between the two versions. Three of them are tweaks to the documentation (fixing broken links and addressing Vista compatibility issues). The remaining difference is the presence of a new "omake" folder, which contains the aforementioned hi-res disc jacket. The game itself is untouched; that's why the new installer didn't take very long to develop. Kinda disappointing, really - "Liebesstrum" was a mistake made in the very first release (v0.01a), and yet it's still there in the final version despite the game having undergone no less than ten revisions. Well, at least the issue is taken care of in the English version...
Ouch this patch need to pay money? Ouch. thought can download instead
ReplyDeleteNo, the game costs money. The patch is very free.
ReplyDeleteHey Letty, any chance you can put the DVD cover online?
ReplyDeleteOr you could buy the game, and it'll be the best of both worlds.
ReplyDeleteWell I have the game in japanese. Thanks to u guys, I could convert it to english.
ReplyDeleteI have 1.05c and the installer exits saying it cant read the RKS folder or something...whats wrong?
ReplyDeleteUhh, what if I don't want the game, but the cover instead?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I saw that Viperacid ZX updated his rant about CN Real, and he included you, Letty. http://AmethystViper.deviantart.com/art/I-love-CN-Real-CN-Rant-130955078
And I really don't like the fact that the game itself requires money to purchase, (although cheap, I will say that is a plus.)
Please, Letty. :'(
The game costs all of 13$. IMO? That's worth every last dime and then some more. Usually you'd have to pay... 40-50$ for the new Megaman title, regardless of console? (Though I think Megaman 9 was cheaper overall than new games tend to be since it was downloadable.)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very fine deal. I already have my copy, couldn't encourage people to do the same more than I already do. There's no reason to upload any files online when you'll get them all with the game now. Lack of availability is no longer an excuse to pirate!
13 bucks US? Wow, they've got themselves a sell, this price is gold.
ReplyDeleteUhh, no. I know 13$ is cheap, but I still want the files, plus the DVD case to be uploaded online regardless.
ReplyDeletePreddY, make sure you select the folder that contains rks.exe in the first Browse dialog. If you select a different folder or if any of the game's files are missing / modified (that includes the Freudia Voice Enhancement), the installer will terminate itself to avoid causing any problems on your system. If you've played an improperly patched rom before, you know what I'm talking about.
ReplyDeletetzeshern, while I don't mind being remunerated for my own efforts, it wouldn't feel right to make money off of someone else's work, especially without their explicit consent. If [erka:es] or anyone else offered me a sum as a thank-you for my part in the project, I would be flattered, to say the least, but I wouldn't demand payment for something I volunteered to do in the first place. Though I can't speak for them, I imagine that Letty and the rest of the team feel much the same way.
Anonymous, there's no point in asking for the cover artwork of a game you have no interest in owning. And I have no interest in undermining [erka:es]'s wishes, either. If thirteen dollars is a deal-breaker for you, you might be better off becoming a fan of the many freeware games available instead.

ReplyDeleteI mailed you early this morning with the same problem. So the way to make it work is removing the Freudia Voice files?
Update:
I removed the Voice files, and it still gives the same message
No, you wrong Lion.
ReplyDeleteYou need to read this, make sure you do all the following step. ^^

I've checked the patch in the morning and it work, really. :D
Here's the thing, i have it updated to 1.05c, when i run the installer, it begins, and when the progress bar passes by the n of "Reading....." it stops and the message of Installation Terminated appears.
ReplyDeleteTDOMMX, I still want the file regardless of what you say.
ReplyDeleteI keep on doing fresh installs, patching to 1.05c from 100a and getting the same error over and over...what files exactly is the installer looking for? maybe there is some file secured, unreadable or not findable...
ReplyDeleteThe patch only work when you have done [Step 07] and RKS up to 1.05c.
ReplyDelete@ColonelRVH:
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I've been doing. That's even what I did the first time.
Could it be possible to upload the files of the translation and just grab and put them on thr RKS folder?
Finally got it to work, i had the extra folder in a different route. Silly me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the patch and the link to buy the game. I always want to pay for games I like and sadly it's often not possible with doujin games that are not official touhou games. I'm enjoying the game and the English patch a lot, and I remembered why I never finished the game the first time when it was released, it's hard!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: I don't think pestering people for a file is going to work. If you really want it then maybe the cover is worth 13$ for you. And you get an amazing game with that cover!
