It's contest time!
It's the moment you've all been waiting for! It's Schwer and Schwer Alike's Rosenkreuzstilette Fan Contest! Now, many of the Schwer readers are a very talented bunch, some in art, some in gaming skills, some in writing. Because of this, it's hard to really come up with a proper contest that doesn't alienate anyone. As a result, I have come up with a solution that will give anyone and everyone a chance at the prize.
Contest:
This competition is for true Rosenkreuzstilette fans. You love it. You play it. You draw it. Maybe you live it. So what's the challenge? Show your fandom. Use your creativity and your talents to create a masterpiece that shows the judges (me) that you are the biggest RKS fan and deserve the prize. Remember: Anyone can draw a picture. Anyone can make a website. Anyone can save a replay. However, a true fan will create something grand, something beyond that. The tools are out there, and heart and passion are what count. Go for it.
Prize:
There are two prizes being offered for the winner, though I need to send some e-mails to make sure the second prize is okay. First is Kiora's Unofficial Rosenkreuzstilette AfterStory release at Comiket 77. I received two copies, and I have put the better-looking copy aside for this contest. I'm always keeping you guys in mind! I will announce the second prize when I get the okay.
Rules and Regulations:
- If you win, you will need to provide your name and address so I can send you the prize. If you do not feel comfortable providing these, then, unless there is an alternative, you can't get anything, even if you win.
- This needs to be your work. Chances are I won't be able to run checks to confirm whether something is truly yours or not, but this contest is all in good fun, and I would hope no one is petty enough to cheat.
- Have fun with this. I'm not out to create something that will stress people out or stir up bad relations. This is meant to be a fun contest by a fan for the fans.
Additional Notes:
- Time, effort, and dedication are the keys here. Remember that expenses do not necessarily correlate to scale and result.
- If you have no interest in the contest and just want to show off your fandom, you can do that too! Be sure to note that in your submission.
Deadline:
All entries must be received by April 1st, 2010. That gives you guys over two months to create your best display of RKS fandom. Whatever you do, make it awesome. To submit your work, send it to our e-mail at grollschwert@gmail.com.
At the end of the contest, I will compile every single entry for a site page or post and send a link to [erka:es] to show them that they have created something amazing and that we appreciate their hard work and ideas. It made Schwer and Schwer Alike possible, it brought us as a fandom together, through good times and bad, and it will let them know that RKS Freudenstachel's release is anticipated worldwide. I imagine that all game developers want to see the fruits of their labor appreciated, so let's make it happen. Everyone, spread the word! Let's make this the best showing of our fandom yet.

Are we discouraged from doing drawings? What if I want to paint a character on a large canvas?
ReplyDeleteI hope this goes better than my fanart contest, 'cuz almost no one entered mine. I hate to say this, but it sucks not being famous like Justin... >_>
ReplyDelete@Bella: You are encouraged to do whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big RKS fan, so I'll try my best to make something everyone should enjoy. Although I do feel a bit stressed by this, I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Who knows how I'll do.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not entirely sure me making both a deviantART club and a english forum (which currently has a very decent amount of success) is enough for me to win, So I'll try to think up something else I hope the staff of RKS will find very appreciable, besides those two.
Otherwise, I wish the best of luck to everyone who is also entering this great contest.
I'll be abstaining from this contest to keep things fair. It's a bit tough to outdo giving up a year of your life to researching, hacking, graphics editing, scriptwriting, proofreading, programming, and playtesting, all for the sake of letting others enjoy a game far better than you ever could...
ReplyDelete...Unless you held an RKS-themed wedding. I'd gladly call them more hardcore than any of us. Give Freudia a veil and a bouquet and she'd be the perfect bride.
(Please excuse the thinly-veiled ego-stroking...)
Suppose you have done something, but you are not particularly proud of what you have done. How much horrible humiliation would befall such a person for entering it into this competition?
ReplyDeleteHypothetically, obviously.
@Colin:
ReplyDeleteI'm a tad bit confused by what you said. What do you mean?
Well, you got me surprised there. I was curious to know the whereabouts of the contest...
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this, I've got a few ideas of what I could make.
Good thing the deadline is quite far away, thanks to that everyone should come with something at this point ;-)
I have an idea. I think I will do a fanfiction + fanart compilation, and the fic will be a song fic.
ReplyDeleteIntentionally vague, Justin. I have done remarkably embarrassing things in the name of fandom.
ReplyDelete>Deadline:
ReplyDelete>All entries must be received by
>April 1st, 2010.
>April 1st
Not this again.
@Cremator:
ReplyDeleteNo, no, this is the real deal. It's unfortunate that it falls on April 1st, but I wanted to give everyone ample time to get this done. Would you prefer if I changed it to April 2nd?
Maybe April 10th would be a good day for the deadline, because it falls on a Saturday.
ReplyDeleteAside from that: today, the blog reached 30.000 views ! Congratulations, Letty ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for your dedication !
This said, I've finally got something in mind for the contest. I'll be on it ASAP ^_^
I should also congratulate Letty for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteAs for what I have in mind, Well, I do have the ideas already thought out, but I haven't started yet. Maybe I'll get into it next month.
I have started right now. Then I can make it as perfect as possible.
ReplyDeleteMan I can't draw at all but I shall try
ReplyDelete@tzeshern:
ReplyDeleteRemember, this isn't an art contest. It's a fandom contest.
Okay. I will try to get some ideas and start doing
ReplyDeleteUh... Letty? What if, for some reason, this contest does in fact stir up several bad relationships?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what that means. Care to elaborate? If you need to speak on a more personal level outside of comments, remember that the e-mail is always open.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know how to explain, but basically, let's say we have two people. The first person wins the prize, and the second person gets upset, aggravated, and jealous at the winner for the rest of his/her life, soon resulting in an instant defriending and later, many other shameful happenings.

ReplyDeleteThat's not my problem. I'm running a contest out of my own desire, and the doujinshi was donated to me for this reason. If you want to hold a grudge, I have no control over that. That's just the way it is.
ReplyDelete@ViperAcidZX - the contest bombed? I'm glad, and I think it had little to do with fame or the lack thereof.
ReplyDeleteThe current contest has a lot less arbitrary, idiotic rules, so it's a lot more accessible and sounds like a lot more fun!
Looking forward to it, and maybe this time I'll also contribute - no stupid rules preventing me from doing so. Of course, it has to be something outrageous, not just a huge piece of art. Hmm hmm. Too bad I don't have the time to make a small Rosenkreuz Stilette MEtroidvania. That'd top things for sure :D
Uhh... How about we have a new rule?
ReplyDelete"Schwer and Schwer Alike blog writers cannot enter the contest."
^ That's gay.
ReplyDeleteI apologize for saying that.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOnly two of the writers are judges, and neither of them are entering, so uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I was referring to the blog writers that weren't judges. I had no intention on hurting anyone's feelings.
