I happen to randomly input the Pamela mode code at the start of the game, kinda funny. Pamela mode is just like playing Grolla mode only Pamela doesn't have to be at half health for her charge slash to do any decent damage and her third slash combo shoots a projectile.
Wow WOMI isn't pulling any punches. Things that were full fledged bosses in their original incarnations are now just mini-bosses to give you an idea. Hope that isn't too spoilerish feel free to delete Letty if you think it is.
The only thing I can say that disappointed me was the digital download didn't include the box art in hi res nor the profiles ala the Luste one teased earlier (though it's very likely not all of them were finished.)
I believe the digital release of Rosenkreuzstilette -The Best- came with a set of pictures as well as the original box art. It may just be a delay on WOMI's part.
Murphy's Law struck with some unexpected credit card problems on my end, but I managed to work things out much sooner than expected. Yay!
I'm glad we haven't put our foot down on some of the English casting just yet; Grolla and Liebea now demand a very different skill set from the voice crew.
...I never thought I'd say this, but Liebea scares the hell out of me. Those of you who have faced her know why.
Schwer's new stage maintain the tradition of mindfuckery and "oh, snap" moments. I definitely enjoy this more than the trial version of her stage.
I see that WOMI is every bit as much an Ys fan as I am. If anyone here has played Ys III: Wanderers From Ys, Pamela's stage will be one hell of a nostalgia trip. Who'd have thought I was onto something when I was plugging the games on Steam, huh?
...Okay, enough out of me. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. Time to get back to letting the Schwarzkreuz kick my ass.
I just need to throw this in, I was listening to the theme "Frozen Air", or Trauare's stage music, and I'm going to be honest here, this is the first video game song that made me cry after Kirby's Epic Yarn's "Frozen Wheel" music and several of the songs from To the Moon.
Well I suppose I could I'll just send you some boss info since I can't discern the plot since I can't speak Japanese. I'll do it in a half an hour or so from the time of this post ok?
Awww, beat me to it. I'll throw in a couple not-too-spoilery details for you, then:
- As some people surmised, after the eight RKS members, you're given another stage select with the five members of Schwarzkreuz. After that is the "fortress" levels.
- The Schwarzkreuz stages are really tough, each with their own special themes. Pamela's is my favorite (see previous post), but Eifer's is close second because of how carefully the stage is designed. You'll know what I mean when you see it. I'm sure speedrunners will hate this stage because of how much the level seems to intentionally mock them.
- The fortress is relatively short, but insanely hard. Take the bane of your existence from the first game, combine it with one of the most frustrating parts of the original demo, and that's the first fortress stage in a nutshell.
- The fortress bosses: HO~ boy! Again, my jaw hit the floor when it sunk in (time: 0.005 seconds) and I could picture WOMI grinning, saying, "Yep, I went there". As Justin might say, none of the bosses in the fortress are original per se (though they definitely have original spins on them), but all of them are a real treat to fight. Just be sure to bring a lot of Cross Tanks.
- I thought the final battle was kind of easy. I threw the fight the first time so I could see the Game Over screen (which is another "Yep, we went there!"), then clobbered both final bosses the first try (that would be my second "attempt" since I had no lives the first time).
- TrickMasterMint is in the credits! Nice!
- I hate to say that the game crashed on me a total of four times. Once during Zorne's boss intro, once during Pamela's stage, once after beating Schirach (while trying to recover my progress to Pamela's stage), and once during the first fortress level (right after I saved my final password). I hate to say it, but the initial release is kind of unstable...
Well, I've earned my right to play Weisssilber. Here's hoping it doesn't humiliate me as badly as Grollschwert did... I hope Anonymous's comment as as awe-inducing as it sounds; I'm already quite pleased with the many surprises in the game.
So does this mean we may actually be close to getting a translated Freudenstachel, since WOMI and Mint have probably the closest bond of any English-language RKS follower?
Those two points may or may not be related. Although they weren't actively involved, the English translation of RKS was produced with the consent of [erka:es]. They could be officially thanking Mint for the translation, creating a home for the English RKS fandom, or recognizing Mint's unique question regarding Grolla's softer side. If it's the first one, I'd probably have been credited as well if I'd spoken to WOMI directly instead of going through Mint.
Regardless, I've already answered your question in my reply to Tzeshern's comment.
I got the game. I would like to tell what happened to Spiritia but sincespoiler cant be given, I wont say anything. I hope it can be translated like rosenkreuzstilette
You'd have to kill me to prevent that from happening. It'll probably take a while, but you can rest assured that we're going to do it.
Two things need to be taken care of first, though: - We need to find a new translator to fill Tanin's shoes. - WOMI needs to fix the many, many bugs still left in the game.
(The script revision & English dub of RKS will be produced concurrently with the RKSF translation in case there's some foreshadowing in the original that we missed the first time around.)
As a programmer and as a playtester, I'm kind of disappointed that the release version of RKSF is this bug-riddled. I lost track of how many times the game crashed on me, the last of which happened after I'd finally beaten UNBEKANNT in Weisssilber (yeah, there's one aside from "Metal Hero Bluste"). I was crying inside when I had to guide Fragile Speedster Pamela though all four Schwarzkreuz stages again...
On that note, while I did anticipate Anonymous's aforementioned big surprise, I was saying, "Oh, no way!" while grinning ear-to-ear when I saw my suspicions confirmed. I love it when a developer's jokes end up becoming more than just a joke (Melty Blood is a great example of this).
Once my spare time permits, I'll start on the graphics work; I've already identified a handful of references and know exactly how I'm going to localize them, so I can handle that even without a fluent translator on staff.
For what it's worth the passwords to go straight to the second fortress in the original work in Freudenstachel to skip the Schwarzkreuz it's what I did when I crashed in one of the fortress stages.
Bit late telling you that now though but hey maybe it'll help someone else out?
...Please read the other comments before asking a question that was answered two hours prior. It'll save others the frustration of having to repeat themselves.
Alright, made a playlist of the boss fights in case anyone would like to see them and are unable to get the game yet. It took a lot longer than I was expecting but I'm not complaining that much, it was an excuse to play through the game again.
I can confirm it. There's a gimmick in one of the stages that I had a feeling could be used to hide something off the beaten path. Sure enough, they did exactly that. The blue crystal functions the same as the green one in the first game.
On a related note, Strudel is supposed to be easygoing, but, if you ask me, she sounds kind of retarded. I mean that literally. Considering one of our editors hates Lilli's voice with a seething passion (Hunya~...), I can guarantee his brain will hurt when he hears Strudel.
I see, thanks. I haven't found it yet in my few plays but I've gotten my game clear time down to about 1:30:00 or so. Was wondering if I missed it and if it would help my game time some.
Good luck trying to clear [spoiler] Stage I. You'll probably need to use a specific weapon to make the second half manageable. It's the shortest stage in the game, but it's also the hardest.
And, if you somehow manage to make it there as Pamela: my condolences. Your sanity likely won't survive.
On an unrelated note: Like Tia, Pamela can't swim.
Some of the stages are indeed designed around the fact the character can't do anything. The least spoilisher one is the overhang at the start of Dolis's stage is removed so she can actually reach the Cross Tank.
@TDO: I don't about you in this case, [KIWI]bloom in [LEMON]jack Stage II is already heading into the That One Boss area for me. I'm doing a "no Cross Tank" and (mostly) "Buster/Freudenstachel-only" run on my first blind playthrough. My lord, the boss is worse than Big [WATERMELON] from the first game and I died countless times trying to study the pattern. Other than that, the stage music gave this SUGURI vibe for some reason.
"- I hate to say that the game crashed on me a total of four times." So, I'm not the only one with that problem ? It's really annoying, because I'm currently working on a no cross tank 1 life clear and I think I'm pretty close to being able to actually pull it off , but the game crashes often...
Bought the game saturday and finished it yesterday as Freu, now I'll attempt Pamela's mode tonight I think...
Really good ! No crashes for me, but a lot of shoutings when it comes to Black Cross stages and bosses. Damn you siblings ! You made me so mad.
The last fights are more Danmaku than Rockman, I sweared I played some Touhou fighting game. Suika's spellcard for everyone: in my face. Bloody hell that's harder than the first one.
Double post, but Womi updated the devblog. From the looks of it, it's a list of updates to the game, so those that are trying to do a clean run won't have to worry about too much crashing, especially during the Schwarzkreuz segment of the game. I still think it would have been better using Mega Man 3's password as opposed to Mega Man 4's. Sure a few minor tweaking would have had to be done in order to register if the player had obtained Strudel, but at least it can remember what Schwarzkreuz have been defeated.
Apparently, the passwords given after each stage don't include the Strudel items (the hound and the platform).
I confirmed this by clearing the stage that gives the Strudel Hund, wrote down the password, reset the game, and entered the password. No Strudel Hund!!!
Yeah I've heard a couple instances of people talking about that.
It's also worth noting you get Strudel Hund from Schwer and there's a hidden section in Schwer's stage you can't get to without it, someone on youtube got to using a password that somehow gave him Strudel Hund before Schwer you can find it on youtube if you search for it.
I'll weigh in on this one because I think the one behind this is a genius. The "uploader" in this case honestly deserves to win Mint's extra copy of Freudenstachel.
...Anonymous, try opening that file in a hex editor and tell me if you notice anything fishy. If you can't, you deserve to have the wool pulled over your eyes.
Seriously, [erka:es] needs more fans like this; people willing to actively sabotage software pirates like this. Kinda reminds me of "Tsuu's" antics after the English release of Wind -a breath of heart-. --- I am Leif Landevag, Project Coordinator for Darkside Translations, former Localization Editor for No Name Losers, and I approve these antics.
The staff here has made its stance on piracy abundantly clear. There's no point in asking how to pirate the game on their turf; it'll just light another Dramasbombe.
That said, there's a saying about those who bite the hand that feeds them. If you know anyone who'd do that purely out of spite... well, that speaks volumes about their character.
I thought I would share my belief as to why the passwords for special items in RKSF are incorrect. As should be known by now, the passwords in RKSF are identical to passwords in RKS (which are, in turn, identical to passwords in MM4). If you look at RKS you get Eins and Zwei, and in RKSF you get Hund and Flugel. On some level in the game logic, Eins = Hund, and Zwei = Flugel.
What happens is that when you put in a password in RKSF, it's checking for the dead bosses from -the first RKS- to decide whether to give you Eins and Zwei, then gives you Hund and Flugel based on those criteria. The bosses that give you these items in RKSF have no bearing on the result of the password. This is why a password that places you after the 8 bosses will give the correct items, but some in-progress passwords will give you incorrect items.
Additionally, for the curious, I compiled a damage chart for all of Freudia's weapons against each boss.
I found it's weird that sometimes when I play as Pamela, the story switches to when I have to fight against the Dark Magi instead of fighting RKS first. Does it happen to anyone?
So anyone has the OST? And I wonder if there will be a popularity poll this time.
The games first patch, 1.01a is out now on erka:es's site. Can't tell you what it fixes but judging from the diary post I'm going to say not too much right now.
LOL, We'll just have to wait until Rosenkreuzstilette Zornesbombe and more RKS games named after the weapons come out, especially if there's a sequel to Rosenkreuzstilette Grollschwert. RKS Geisterwand can wait until RKS Liebessturm comes out. Oh, and if WOMI decides to make a Castlevania clone game starring Karl after all, then that would be nice.
Wow; that's one big huge Q&A, and is that some kind of advertisement WOMI mass-produced around Japan? 0_o
Seeing as I didn't play enough of RKSF to give it a detailed review over on my personal blog, I listed listed off the things I both liked and disliked about RKSF, remaining civil and honest throughout it all. In worse news, people are mass-producing RKSF thanks to a new tool; one person (an admin of a forum of all kinds of people) even developed a small (though rather poorly made, IMO) combo pack of both RKS and RKSF, complete with a case design and disk label.
Numerous fanart of both Freudia and Pamela are appearing all over Pixiv at the moment. As for everything else, anyone here who lurks around the forums for Mari0 may have noticed I made a tileset for Schwer Muta's stage, as it borrows from the game Mari0 is built around. A ~Freudenstachel~ section on The Spriters Resource has begun, and I have renders of all the main bosses over on my Photobucket.
...Why is it that I knew exactly which site you were talking about the moment you mentioned a combo pack...?
In any event, this guy's antics are nothing new. He's made a bunch of compilations of series I love (and imported), including Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, and Ys. Oh, and eXceed and Project Touhou, if you want to throw in two of Mint's favorites. There's no point in groaning about it; the guy is the administrator of a ROM site, so this is par for the course.
...I do find it telling that the guy is proud of "finally" being able to "complete" this "project". While amateurish in pretty much every regard, at least it's more polished than the convention giveaways of a certain cartoonist friend of yours...
Rosenkreuzstilette Liebessturm will do great before Geisterwand . Or would like to have Spiritia make a comeback after Liebea. I couldn't think of Schwer acquiring some abilities after defeating bosses. A floating bomb circulating around her after beating Zorne ?
I really want a Rosenkreuzstilette Liebessturm so badly after seeing Liebea's improvements in Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel (although that was a copy if Liebea, it pretty much also copied her abilities so maybe Liebea actually have those moves). I wan't her to have similarities with Bass this time. Her default weapon is her "pink" bullets from the original RKS. Like Freudenstachel, it can be held but can also be shot at different directions too. She can do a double jump (this is optional cause it might look a bit funny with the RKS system). It's plot takes years after the Freudenstachel event. So Liebea might look MATURE at that time and also wear a new outfit, but still similar to her current one. And graphics shouldn't change much. The sprites will remain their state as they are now and shouldn't look like ones from the games like Megaman And Bass.
If only I could reach WOMI to tell him this.. sigh...
Finally completed a 1-Life, No Cross Tank and Freudenstachel-only-on-boss replay only to find the replay function is BUGGED. Hopefully the next patch will solve this though...
I just found something interesting that caught my eye that was recently added to the wiki.
According to a new contribution by AnimeTeikoku, when you defeat Dolis, she occasionally screams for Master Schirach. Just why would she call for Schirach anyway? Didn't she desert RKS a few years prior to Freudenstachel and join the Schwarzkreuz? It may very well be up to us to figure out!
1) Mint's contact came through, meaning I now have a brand-spanking new physical copy of Freudenstachel in my collection (along with a copy of our other super-secret project ^_^).
2) My contact came through, meaning Freudenstachel will soon be available to overseas fans via my favorite import site. Details to follow in my next audio announcement (when the product page for the game is actually up).
The "super-secret" project is another doujin game we're localizing to help clear the rust off of my Photoshop skills during the silence between recording sessions (I have to meet one-on-one with each of the RKS actors to direct their performances, and finding time in everyone's schedules is a logistical nightmare, in case you were wondering why the dub is taking so long to complete). It'll probably be ready before the translation team has finished doing their thing with Freudenstachel.
This new game project is very light on text (DekuKirby has already submitted his completed translations of the game's text), but it requires a lot of graphics work. Justin, I doubt you already know which title it is, but you're welcome to venture a guess via email. Note that I'll only confirm if you are right or wrong; I will not provide additional hints until the audio announcement is recorded and ready. Sound fair?
I thought I should just comment on the whole "Rosenkreuzstilette ~Geisterwand~" thing. It certainly seems like WOMI just pulled it out for the sake of kidding around; but if it really will be the next RKS game, I'm going to bet it will be a Super Mario Bros. clone, especially after the numerous homages to SMB Schwer's two stages from RKS and RKSF made. In contrast, ~Zornesbombe~ would be a Bomberman clone.
I couldn't imagine Geisterwand to be a game. But for some reasons, I think WOMI only did pulled it . It would only look like a parody of the series, but it might be a good move he'd make it bonus game, a non-meelee player for once in a while. Zornesbombe sounds fun; that's the only thing I can say about it.
I'm waiting for a poll about who should star in the next game. If there's gonna be one, I'd say Liebea. Who'll you choose, Justin ?
WOMI just posted a really long blog update with text and links and stuff. Also, he posted at one point that RKS Liebessturm might come sometime in 2022.
as i said , i will send womi another message . well i already did . filled with stuff about convincing him to make Liebessturm first before Geisterwand (i know i've gone through with this already) by sending him a suggestion about Liebea's main weaponry . i'm sorry but i'm not feeling Schwer as a follow up. along with that message, i reported him a bug too .
I think a completely new protagonist should be the next move to keep it fresh. With all the old characters playable in story mode as you unlock them. The game also needs more male characters like the vampire dude

ReplyDeleteMessed around in Pamela's mode a bit there's a very large surprise in one part of it I didn't see coming.

ReplyDeleteShhh! No spoilers!
DeleteMy bad. I thought everyone would've known that by now. :/
DeleteDouble post, but Womi updated the devblog.
ReplyDeleteAlso worth noting he suggests if you're having crashes to try updating Direct X.
DeleteI found the last weapon everyone cant find thanks to a user. I will just give a clue. It is somewhere's in Liebea's stage.
ReplyDeleteAnother update to the [erka:es] devblog, listing off some of the voice actors unlisted prior.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the passwords given after each stage don't include the Strudel items (the hound and the platform).
ReplyDeleteI confirmed this by clearing the stage that gives the Strudel Hund, wrote down the password, reset the game, and entered the password. No Strudel Hund!!!
Yeah I've heard a couple instances of people talking about that.
DeleteIt's also worth noting you get Strudel Hund from Schwer and there's a hidden section in Schwer's stage you can't get to without it, someone on youtube got to using a password that somehow gave him Strudel Hund before Schwer you can find it on youtube if you search for it.
The Schwer hidden section you're talking about can also be reached with Strudels Flugel (the jet/platform).
DeleteGuys, I think I need help, I downloaded the files from freakshare, but I can't open the .zip. Is there anyway to open them?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's either buy the game or GTFRO because we're not dicussing piracy here. Now if only I can delete your post for giving unwanted info away...
DeleteI'll weigh in on this one because I think the one behind this is a genius. The "uploader" in this case honestly deserves to win Mint's extra copy of Freudenstachel.
Delete...Anonymous, try opening that file in a hex editor and tell me if you notice anything fishy. If you can't, you deserve to have the wool pulled over your eyes.
Seriously, [erka:es] needs more fans like this; people willing to actively sabotage software pirates like this. Kinda reminds me of "Tsuu's" antics after the English release of Wind -a breath of heart-.
---
I am Leif Landevag, Project Coordinator for Darkside Translations, former Localization Editor for No Name Losers, and I approve these antics.
If you are going to get self-righteous like that, it will make people want to pirate it just to spite you.
Delete...Oh boy.
DeleteThe staff here has made its stance on piracy abundantly clear. There's no point in asking how to pirate the game on their turf; it'll just light another Dramasbombe.
That said, there's a saying about those who bite the hand that feeds them. If you know anyone who'd do that purely out of spite... well, that speaks volumes about their character.
Here vor all the guys who could not find the secret Item I made a video.

ReplyDeleteGiven the nature of that boss it may well be a shout out to a similar boss with a similar weakness in a Mega Man game.
DeleteIt has been mentioned various times in the blog not to post spoilers.
DeleteOh, nice, this is out.
ReplyDeleteI found a bug of which that Freudia can't use her learnable
ReplyDeleteabilities after Freudenstachel activates back from Weißsilber.

ReplyDeleteWhat happens is that when you put in a password in RKSF, it's checking for the dead bosses from -the first RKS- to decide whether to give you Eins and Zwei, then gives you Hund and Flugel based on those criteria.

ReplyDeleteSo anyone has the OST? And I wonder if there will be a popularity poll this time.
The games first patch, 1.01a is out now on erka:es's site. Can't tell you what it fixes but judging from the diary post I'm going to say not too much right now.
ReplyDeleteThe game still crashes... :/ . Guess i'll have to set up a pc with Win7 just to play this game.
ReplyDeleteYes .
DeleteMy game never crashes with Win7 around.
For those of you searching I found a complete OST here

Though it should be expected sense this has everything Spoiler Warning for end game stuff
I got lags on Dolis stage and some other stages. I got a new computer, and I upgraded to the latest directx, but it still lags. Help, please...
ReplyDeleteWOMI updated the diary with a massive Q&A thing. Can't say much about it besides he jokes about doing Rosenkruzestilette Geisterwand in 2017.
ReplyDeleteLOL, We'll just have to wait until Rosenkreuzstilette Zornesbombe and more RKS games named after the weapons come out, especially if there's a sequel to Rosenkreuzstilette Grollschwert. RKS Geisterwand can wait until RKS Liebessturm comes out. Oh, and if WOMI decides to make a Castlevania clone game starring Karl after all, then that would be nice.
DeleteWow; that's one big huge Q&A, and is that some kind of advertisement WOMI mass-produced around Japan? 0_o
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I didn't play enough of RKSF to give it a detailed review over on my personal blog, I listed listed off the things I both liked and disliked about RKSF, remaining civil and honest throughout it all.
DeleteIn any event, this guy's antics are nothing new.
ReplyDeleteI really want a Rosenkreuzstilette Liebessturm so badly after
seeing Liebea's improvements in Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel (although that was a copy if Liebea, it pretty much also copied her abilities so maybe Liebea actually have those moves). The sprites will remain their state as
they are now and shouldn't look like ones from the games like Megaman And Bass.
If only I could reach WOMI to tell him this.. sigh...
Finally completed a 1-Life, No Cross Tank and Freudenstachel-only-on-boss replay only to find the replay function is BUGGED. Hopefully the next patch will solve this though...
ReplyDeletePatch 1.02a is out.

I just found something interesting that caught my eye that was recently added to the wiki.
ReplyDeleteAccording to a new contribution by AnimeTeikoku, when you defeat Dolis, she occasionally screams for Master Schirach. Just why would she call for Schirach anyway? Didn't she desert RKS a few years prior to Freudenstachel and join the Schwarzkreuz? It may very well be up to us to figure out!
Double sweetness!
ReplyDelete1) Mint's contact came through, meaning I now have a brand-spanking new physical copy of Freudenstachel in my collection (along with a copy of our other super-secret project ^_^).
2) My contact came through, meaning Freudenstachel will soon be available to overseas fans via my favorite import site. Details to follow in my next audio announcement (when the product page for the game is actually up).
It's good to have connections. ^_^
I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I'm wondering exactly what this "super secret" project of yours is.
DeleteIt's too bad I never really had any form of luck attempting to connect with WOMI. Even with honest and civil criticism.
"I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I'm wondering exactly what this "super secret" project of yours is."
DeleteOn second thought, after a bit of brain-storming into my past, I may already have an idea on what it could be. Not going to spoil it, though.
This is very good news.

DeleteThe "super-secret" project is another doujin game we're localizing to help clear the rust off of my Photoshop skills during the silence between recording sessions (I have to meet one-on-one with each of the RKS actors to direct their performances, and finding time in everyone's schedules is a logistical nightmare, in case you were wondering why the dub is taking so long to complete). It'll probably be ready before the translation team has finished doing their thing with Freudenstachel.
DeleteThis new game project is very light on text (DekuKirby has already submitted his completed translations of the game's text), but it requires a lot of graphics work. Justin, I doubt you already know which title it is, but you're welcome to venture a guess via email. Note that I'll only confirm if you are right or wrong; I will not provide additional hints until the audio announcement is recorded and ready. Sound fair?
are there any contest on rksf?? like going through all stages without losing any HP or sth like that.
ReplyDeleteI thought I should just comment on the whole "Rosenkreuzstilette ~Geisterwand~" thing.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine Geisterwand to be a game. But for some reasons, I think WOMI only did pulled it . It would only look like a parody of the series, but it might be a good move he'd make it bonus game, a non-meelee player for once in a while.
DeleteZornesbombe sounds fun; that's the only thing I can say about it.
ReplyDeleteit's still undecided tho . i was the one who sent him that message with a crappy name called "unknown me" .
Deletei'll send him another one again .
as i said , i will send womi another message .
ReplyDeletewell i already did . filled with stuff about convincing him to make Liebessturm first before Geisterwand (i know i've gone through with this already) by sending him a suggestion about Liebea's main weaponry . i'm sorry but i'm not feeling Schwer as a follow up.
along with that message, i reported him a bug too .
I think a completely new protagonist should be the next move to keep it fresh. With all the old characters playable in story mode as you unlock them. The game also needs more male characters like the vampire dude
