Rosenkreuzstilette Grollschwert - C72 Trial Version
TDOMMX decided to mess around with the trial disc and discovered this amazing little jewel. There was a version of RKSG with an alternate opening and a variety of differences. He gets full credit for discovering this and providing me with a copy. We will be showcasing the other differences in the demo in a later post.
Is the tower mentioned in the intro suppose to be a reference to the Tower of Salvation from Tales of Symphonia? "To begin, Grolla has no charge slash at this point." So Grolla was originally suppose to learn techniques like Zero? Hmm... I was hoping for a graveyard-ques opening. =\
Justin, this blog is not a place to advertise your DeviantArt page. If you keep it up, I will do everything in my power to make sure you don't get to comment here anymore. You have a blog that you can showcase your art on, and people can easily find it through your profile. Now, please, stop doing this.
Killing_Doll: Actually, those're the same graphics as the original opening cinema; just the narration is different. I certainly wasn't expecting a first-person commentary from our favorite sword-swinging badass. My desire to read through the Grollschwert script grows.
(Explanation if that last bit didn't make sense: I wrote the English localization of Spiritia's script myself, whereas Grolla-fanboy-extraordinaire Letty will be penning Grolla's English lines. I have intentionally avoided reading our two translators' takes on the GS script so that my initial reaction to Letty's script remains unbiased. Two distinct perspectives, two different writers. Makes perfect sense, if you ask me. And I have faith that Letty will be true to his word and do All Kinds of Justice to the characters.)
Viper: Actually, no. Read the description of Grollschwert on the [erka:es] site (or Darkside's translation of it); it says that the blade becomes stronger as the user approaches death. Grolla was originally intended to use just the standard slash, but the Charge Saber becomes available once you reach half health.
The side effect of this, unfortunately, is that Luste's stage is FRIGGIN' IMPOSSIBLE to finish. You can't reach the enemies in the final stretch with your normal slash, so you must either jump into them and take a hit (mowing them down while you're invincible) or arrive at that stretch with most of your health missing. Either way, you're at a huge disadvantage against Luste without an unhealthy stockpile of Cross Tanks. The weaker Charge Slash was added in to give players a semblance of a fighting chance.
hoo, nice, a grolla without charge slash....then the game is gonna be FRIGGIN' HARD. but it's said that charge slash is available when HP reach half, then it's still possible for me to beat cross wall and yellow devil as I can beat both of them w/o taking damage =))
You see, due to an accient when the powers that be brought Grolla to this earth, her skeleton is made up almost entirely of peanut butter. So she needs the armour just so she doesn't go splat in one hit.
Actually, Luste's stage isn't impossible. If you perfect your jumping, during the last stretch of Luste's stage with all the platforms and enemies on them, you CAN land at the very edge of the platform where the enemy cannot reach. It's precision jumping at its finest and works, as far as I've managed, on the skeleton heads (although you need to jump behind the flamethrower one) but probably not on the skeleton itself (which you mow down in one hit anyway).
Is it harder this way? Yes.
Does it matter? No, not really. Grollschwert is pretty much Hard Mode. I expect it to make every muscle in my hands ripe with fresh new pain everytime I play it, and this is why it is so satisfyingly awesome to finally beat it when you do.
As for armor-- really, think about it. Metal armor. Versus all sorts of magical enemies, including but not limited to lasers, high-grade explosives, wind blades, acid rain and a giant monster made of mold. Spiritia is much better off with her divine protection/powers to avoid taking hurt than Grolla is with her badass sword and regular metal armor.
The first part is from Sepperin's castle 4, then it goes back to the classic prologue stage...
ReplyDeleteFunny "prototype".
You're not alone, Grolla T_T
ReplyDelete*tries to glomp her, is mistaken for an enemy, and swiftly cut down*
The Grolla/Hazuki parallels thicken XD
Very cool.
ReplyDeleteBTW, could someone out there modify the sprites to make it look like Super Justin? Would love it if someone tried. :)

ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll stop.
ReplyDeleteSay letty, I don't mean to upset you, but can you please follow my blog?
ReplyDeleteP.S. I cretainly will stop showcasing my art here if you do.
Heheheh. You're welcome, Letty.

Wow,... That' s hard to believe that Luste's stage is impossible.
ReplyDeleteyay! a harder Grolla mode! *sucks with using Grolla*
ReplyDeleteI'll sit this one out. Excellent find tho.
Wow, I wish this and the real RKS was emulated in Java or Flash. Looks hardcore.
ReplyDeleteChiptune remix of Zorne's theme? I approve.
ReplyDelete...I had a hard time with Luste's stage even WITH the charge slash. And I can't imagine the Cross Wall without it.
Just imagine how much damage she would be taking if she wasn't wearing armor.
ReplyDeleteHo my.... Beaing Cross-wall or Yellow Devil, without even a slash attack ?!
ReplyDeleteMy poor brain would be doomed, my fingers smoked. No no, I won't try that. T_T
