Contest Update

According to a response made on 2ch, it would appear that the Japanese RKS community is also working on entries to AmethystViper's Schwer and Schwer Alike RKS Fanart Contest. That's exciting to know, and that means we'll be getting even more art entries. Let's keep this up, and make RKS popularity grow! Thank you to everyone participating!

  1. Now this is good new for me. 'Cuz I'm trying to get a bunch of artists on deviantArt to join in the contest. But a lot of them are too busy with their own matters. Some don't know enough about RKS to participare. And others just don't want to...

I tried to get this artist to take part of the contest, but he won't since my contest has no prize involved. He also thought RKS was something of my work, but don't worry, I make sure his assumptions are wrong. And its a shame, 'cuz he can make some of funniest Code Geass 4Komas on dA. Tried to persuade him to join, but I doubt I got through...

  2. This is definitely good news, especially since we are trying to spread RKS around the web.

    ...

    I hate to say it, but honestly, I find this statement very ironic coming from you, Justin. Especially from what you did in the past... ¬.¬;

  5. What a dick he is for not doing it because it doesn't has a prize.

About the Japanese entering it, its bad news for me, because their art is normally above what we see at deviantart and my chances will lower.

  6. Well this is his actual response that I got from him after I gave the note about the contest:

"No thanks. What you are offering isn't a contest. Contests have a prize for winning. This is just a call to artists for your own series."
    ~Kristoffer "FoxxFireArt" Remmell

I, of course, replied to him stating that his assumptions 'bout RKS being my work are false and pointed him to [erka:es]'s official site. I also told him that not all contest must involve some prize. Take a look at MasakoX's and Vegeta3986's fanart contest for their Naruto: The Abridged Series for example. They didn't put a prize up for grabs, but a lot of fans did fanart for it since it is a very funny satire on Naruto (and I guess for bragging rights as well).

Seeing that I haven't got a response from him, so I can assume he's not entering. Such a shame. His art-style kicks ass and I would love to see the RKS characters drawn in his style... And maybe a 4Koma. :<

  9. Absolutely not, and you should be ashamed for even suggesting it. The Japanese are not a group of superhuman art gods. They are people like you and me, fans just like us. There are plenty of excellent artists on DA and pixiv, and to try and separate them because you feel that pixiv users are better than DA users is an insult to both of them. Art is about passion in addition to talent. I've told you this before, Justin, but people who take art seriously can tell when a picture is half-assedly made and tossed straight from the assembly line to the shelves with no quality control. That's why everyone has a problem with you; it's not that your art is bad, it's that your art is bad and you don't give a shit. You delete criticism and only accept praise from people who don't know any better. And believe me, you're not the only one. There are plenty of people just like you out there. It's a sad truth.

So no, there will not be and never will be separate contests. If you're really all that worried about not being able to meet the quality standards of many of the Japanese pixiv artists, I suggest you follow some art tutorials or something and put everything you've got into ONE picture. You have literally two months to work on this. Get to it.

  10. Also, Viper, about that FoxxFireArt guy: If the guy was a fan of the series, he'd probably jump on this, no problem. This is not about grabbing people who know nothing about RKS to draw art for us. This is about taking everyone who *is* a fan of RKS and having everyone draw art to show there is a concrete (and decent-sized) fanbase and to raise awareness of the series. It's sad that he will only enter these sorts of "art contests" if there are prizes involved, but it's also understandable because he's not going to spend time on a picture without incentive, and he's not a fan of RKS and is not involved in the "spread the word campaign." Therefore, if he does draws anything for this, he'll have done it for absolutely nothing, and good art takes a lot of time. I would love to see some of the best pixiv and DA artists jump on this train, but they've got to either be fans of the series or fans of the cause. Otherwise, they're doing something for nothing, and if that's the case, I can't blame them for declining.

  14. Hi SaSa readers ;-)
I missed a lot of commentarie... This contest seems a fun idea.

I'm not sure it's a matter of prize or anything (the challenges here didn't have any prize, too, but were fun); it's more a matter of having free-time to spend on it. ^_^'

  15. I have to ask, will the Japanese RKS community send their submissions for the contest to Pixiv or to another site?

  16. I imagine they're going to e-mail their entries to you.
